We don’t have any food available on site but there is a range of ‘farm shop’ type foods available from Joan at The Veg Shed, just down the road from us.
The Veg Shed
The Veg Shed is run by our friend and near neighbour Joan. Joan is Dean’s mum, and Dean provides our firewood, and it’s Deans sheep that graze our field behind the Shepherds Hideaway.
Where is the Veg Shed?
The Veg Shed is about a 10 minute walk (probably with the dog) back up onto the main road to us from the A55 (known as the ‘Waen Road’), and it’s only a little further on than the ‘Tafarn y Waen’ (which will be on your right). The Veg Shed is on your left as you proceed towards the A55, and it’s in Joan’s house, she sells from her front door, not a shop or an actual shed!
On the map below The Shepherds Hideaway is on the right where the red cross is. The Veg Shed is marked by the black cross with the red circle around it. You’ll know when you are there as you’ll see the signs for logs and eggs. The orange line on the map shows the path walked by me and the dog to the Veg Shed!

Fresh, Local, and Full of Flavour
At The Veg Shed source much of their produce from nearby farms and producers who care about quality as much as we do.
The products on offer change due to seasonality and so there’s an ever-changing selection of fresh, seasonal fruit and vegetables — all locally grown, full of flavour, and harvested with care. They’re also proud to stock an amazing selection of handmade goodies from Henllan Bakery, a local producer with a big reputation for flavour.
The Veg Shed usually have…
- Fresh free range eggs from quails, chickens and ducks
- Traditional jams, marmalades, and chutneys
- Fresh vegetables, such as potatoes, carrots and onions
- Sweet and tangy pickles including red cabbage, onions, and beetroot
- Locally sourced honey and lemon curd
- And don’t miss their delicious cakes, baked by Henllan Bakery in Denbigh
For something a little different, they also offer a range of eggs — including small eggs from small chickens, and a variety of other eggs from different types of chickens. Perfect for a special holiday breakfast, baking project, or just because.

Please just knock on the door and wait…
Joan, who runs the Veg Shed does so from her front door, but has recently had surgery on her knees and hips.
So if you knock on the door Joan has asked me to just ask you to be patient. It takes her a while to get to the door.
Or call first…
As an alternative Joan is happy for you to give her a call on 07402300856 or send her a WhatsApp in advance so you can check she has what you want and the she will prepare it for pickup and let you know when it’s ready.
